Wall and floor tiling

The tiling of a bathroom is the ceramic coating that is fixed to the walls to fulfill a triple function: protect them from humidity, decorate and insulate. It is made up of ceramic tiles fixed by special adhesives. The joints between the tiling tiles are filled with a specific paste.

Before tiling or laying tiles on a floor

It is necessary to check that the surface that we are going to cover is in perfect condition. It should always be clean and free of dust so that it does not interfere with the adhesives. We also check for the flatness of the walls or floors. We put a ruler in all directions and check that there is in no case more than 3 mm of difference. If so, we will correct it previously. We must also check with the trowel or a metal tip that the coating that we are going to cover has good adhesion, that is, that the plaster does not come off, scratching slightly. Especially in hot season, it is recommended that you moisten both the walls and floors and the tiles. This way we avoid that the water in the glue cement dries too quickly and we guarantee a perfect adhesion.

We place the tiles in a thin layer

it is the most recent system in use. It is a system suitable for all types of tiles and all types of supports.
Laying in a thin layer is done by applying a 3-6 mm layer of bonding material over
Wall.
In order to be able to carry out the thin-layer tiling without previously applying a regularization layer, it is necessary that the support has the adequate flatness, there being no difference in level greater than 3mm between any two points on the wall measured with a 2 m rule. Only in the case of factories for large-format hollow brick pieces and prefabricated ceramic and plaster panels, as they are factories
of great flatness, the application of a regularization layer is not usually necessary.

  • begins to harden, the excess material is removed from the joints using a damp sponge or a sore hole.

We place all types of tiles in any composition according to the client's wishes.

What must be considered!

  • If we decide to buy the tiles ourselves, we must buy a 10% more than the amount needed to cover the walls. This surplus will serve to replace the parts that break during installation and to cover possible faults.
  • In this sense, it is also advisable to mix the pieces from different boxes in the tiling; This will compensate for any possible color differences between the tiles.
  • If we are going to install the tiling ourselves, we must take into account the ceramic absorption rate to choose the right cement-glue or adhesive. In these cases, it is advisable to consult the clerk or manager of the store or warehouse.
  • If the installation is carried out in summer, it is advisable to wet the wall with a vaporizer so that the mortar does not dry too quickly.
  • Tiling can also be used to decorate living room and entrance walls. It can be placed from floor to ceiling or forming a plinth, that is, covering only the lower part of the wall (up to a height of about 120 cm) and leaving the upper part painted or papered.
  • To cut costs and create a more modern effect, the lower part of the wall can be tiled at a height of 1.10–1.20 m and the upper part painted with a special plastic paint for wet areas. The shower / bath area must be tiled from floor to ceiling.
